About the builder
Renovating the old and building the new.
Mountainwood Homes is a family-owned design and build company founded in 2008 by Robert and Heather Wood and based in the Portland metro. Its calling card is written plainly in its own work: it builds custom homes from the ground up and it reimagines the ones that already exist, from kitchens and baths to whole-house transformations and additions. That breadth is the point, a house is a house, and the same judgment goes into how its rooms flow together whether you are starting from a bare site or an old floor plan.
What sets the firm apart is its all-under-one-roof approach. Drafters, designers, project managers, and craftsmen work as one team from the first sketch to the final walkthrough, so the decisions that happen in a drawing room actually survive on site. Clients talk to the people who will build the project, not a hand-off chain of strangers, and that continuity shows in the finished rooms, in this home as much as in any of their others.
What they're known for
The craft behind the home.
Mountainwood Homes built this house the same way it builds everything its team touches. The four pillars below are the firm's working philosophy, and you can read each one in the rooms at 14986 Jennetten Way.
Custom new homes
Houses designed from the site up for one family, from first sketches to the finishes you can touch. This home, raised from a raw lot in Oregon City, is a working example of that process.
Whole-home renovation
Kitchens, baths, additions, and full-house remodels that respect what is worth saving and quietly improve everything else, using the same design and construction team end to end.
One team, under one roof
In-house drafters, designers, project managers, and craftsmen who stay accountable to one another, and to you. Fewer handoffs means the plan you approve is the house you get.
Award-winning reputation
Named NAHB Remodeler of the Year, a 15-time Best of Houzz winner, with a 5.0 of 5 average across its Houzz reviews. Recognition follows work, and the work sells itself.
A Mountainwood Homes build
14986 Jennetten Way is their showcase.
For the 50th Anniversary 2026 Street of Dreams, Mountainwood Homes raised the HBA home in Oregon City with contributions from more than 50 members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Portland. It is a two-story, 3-bedroom, 3-bath, 2,542-square-foot residence with a two-car garage and a floor plan by Pacific Lifestyle Homes. The charcoal brick and warm timber facade, the waterfall quartz island, the olive-tiled fireplace wall, and the covered hillside patio each carry the firm's signature care with material, light, and proportion.
The reputation
Recognition won on the job, not on paper.
Mountainwood Homes was named Remodeler of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders, an honor voted on by peers in the trade. It has also collected the Best of Houzz award fifteen times, in both design and customer service categories, and carries a perfect 5.0 average across its Houzz reviews. Clients return, and clients refer.
Walk this home and you will see the same standard at work: cabinets joined to a tile edge, glass set to catch an evening, and a plan that makes every square foot earn its place. What the awards describe, 14986 Jennetten Way demonstrates in person.
